The 1.5.3 did not generate a crash report. I also downloaded Adobe Air 1.5.3 to see if it would work on my system and it wouldn't open at all. I've pasted in the crash log from my 2.5.1 installation below. I also tried the suggestion of unchecking one of the languages in System Preferences to fix some esoteric problem, but that didn't work. "Unable to read the dictionary of the application or extension because it is not scriptable" and "Script Editor cannot open files in the 'Document' format." EDIT: First, it said "A privilege violation has occurred." When I clicked on the EDIT button, it gave me this additional message. I read through a few pages of problems similar to mine and tried the Applescript file that was supposed to fix the problem, but the script wouldn't run for me either. Unfortunately, when I double-clicked the installation file, nothing happened.
So I went to Adobe's site and downloaded the latest version of Air 2.5.1. However, the Air download failed and gave me a message that said "Couldn't write the application to the hard disc." When I clicked on the calendar link it advised me of that, then triggered the Air download. I was given a link to download an Advent calendar, which apparently requires Adobe Air. This was supplied by my employer in another state, and they're on a shoestring budget so upgrading anything is out of the question right now.
